Hurry Up and Wait :)

I decided to go back to my PT and see what he thinks of my hamstrings before I book an appointment for a massage. My co-pay is more affordable than the massage, so it makes sense.

However, when I called and talked to Devin, my PT,  he didn't think my original prescription from the Sports Medicine Doc would allow him to work my hamstrings.
So Devin emailed my Doc and I am waiting to hear from him. I have a bunch of stuff to do at work next week, so I can't take off till next Thursday. Boooo!  It seems I always have to put off what I want to do. It makes me a little crazy.

Option A  - my Doc will write a script so I can go directly to Devin.
Option B - my Doc will decide he wants to evaluate me before he sends me to Devin...

Who knows, it may be a few weeks for option B to happen, if that is what they decide...

If that's the case, I will probably just go ahead and book a massage next week. I need to experience it.

I did a treadmill 5K last night and I felt pretty good. This morning I ran two miles and did some static stretches. I only static stretch if I am good and warmed up :)  Just one quick pinch in my leg this morning, and it was gone as quick as it came. I feel like I am making progress with healing finally. My legs are feeling looser for sure and not as achy, but the flexibility in in right hamstring is still really limited, yet it's my left one that hurts, makes sense, right!?

I went digging around in the PT room in search of a foam roller. (I work in a HS tech center)

All this and no foam, roller :(

I snagged the hula hoop though - it will help me combat sitting for 10 hours. A few times a day it will get my blood moving a little. Usually, I just take the long way to the water machine to get a few extra steps in, but I thought this might be fun.

I felt ridiculous taking a pic hula hooping, but I still did it!

Oops! Too low - that happens every few seconds (•◡•)
Maybe I will get a new skill...NOT!

Don't you hate when you decide to "do" something and you have to wait?
Do you hula hoop?
Any suggestions on how to combat sitting?

  1. Nice hula hooping pictures!! I would have a hard time with a sitting job! I think I would be taking the long way to the water cooler too, and walks at lunch.

    1. Thanks, Christy lol I feel silly!
I like to walk outside when it's cool :) Right now I just walk around the building.

  2. That is so totally frustrating.

I suppose I should be happy we pay for most everything out of pocket that's not a regular dr, except, oddly, the chiropractor. I love that they take a LOT of insurance because so often with alternative care that's not the case.

With my new watch vibrating to tell me it's time to move, I'm doing a lot of pacing. I think the dogs think I've gone nuts.

    1. Insurance stuff is a pain, I've has so many issues with things not being covered and huge bills and we pay so much...ugh.
A watch with a timer is good :) My bladder kind of does that for me :/ it never gives me rest lol

  3. I do not like that hurry up and wait scenario! Amazon is your friend...order a J-Fit foam roller. ;) Mine was well worth the investment. BTW - My sister swears by her stand up desk.

    1. me either, I am still waiting to hear :( to be fair they are busy people lol I am trying to be patient, but I will call again tomorrow if I hear nothing.
We asked if our desks could be adapted but the answer was no.
Since this post I went back and borrowed a 6 lb. medicine ball and have been playing short games of catch against the wall, kind of fun actually :)
I guess I do need to just order one :)

  4. Oh gosh... I do my best to combat sitting. I have an alarm go over every hour at work to get up & just move. I keep an ear out for a good song on the radio - luckily, (or unluckily) they play the SAME songs over & over... Shut up & Dance with me is a key to get up & march in place to the beat. :) I'm leaving my work with about 4,000 steps on my pedometer. Some days, I've left not even reaching 1,500 - that's sad.
hope your leg is healing up! & you get all that straightened out. I hate medicine issues.
... I can't hoola hoop for the life of me...

    1. Ha! I have lost count of how many times I've heard Shut Up and Dance With me and ♫ My Heart is a Ghost Town ♫. 4,000 is a lot :) I am usually really low, more the reason to run before work!
I agree, i hate running to appointments, but a necessary evil.
I am not very good at the hula hoop either LOL

  5. This is why I like you- you are FUN and the hula hoop pictures prove it! :)

I hate waiting for appointments too. And then when you show up for your appointment, you have to KEEP waiting cause doctors are NEVER on time.

On a school day with students I don't need an excuse to stand up. But on in-service days, sometimes instead of emailing someone I will walk to their office or classroom to talk to them just so I get moving a little! I don't know if that is an option for you.

    1. Thanks Megan, I really do feel silly, but I do try to find something to laugh at even if it's me lol
I know, oh my, the eye specialist I saw recently was the worst. Four flipping hours...long story.
Our side of the building is almost empty right now, there's just a few of us, but I will do that during the school year :) That's why I went digging in PT's closet lol I went and got a medicine ball and played catch with the wall today.

  6. LOVE the hula hoop! I don't have a desk job, but when I am in driving mode with the kids, I try and get out of the car while waiting for them etc.
    Insurance is such a pain!
I hula hoop with my girls--Another killer workout, turning the jump rope for double dutch, my arms ache after--maybe someday I will be able to jump in :)

    1. Jump rope was so much fun when I was younger! I am not sure my bladder would cooperate with all that jumping now, but it would be an great work out lol I would try jumping in Cheryl!

  7. Our medical system is so messed up. I hate that it costs more to go to alternative things like massage! Hopefully one way or the other you get relief soon.

  10. Very nice hula hoop pics! Go with the massage while waiting for the decision of your doc.
Massages are part of my routine. I feel always better after it.
Good luck on a fast recover.

    1. Thanks! It would be easier to get a massage for sure. I am glad to hear you have good results with them. I am hearing that from a lot of you so it makes me more confident about how expensive it is :)

  11. I think your Hula Hoop skills surpass mine by far! My niece was doing it the other day and thinking I was 10 again, I told her it was easy and I could go for a long time. I picked it up and well lets just say after 20 tries I still couldn't get past 10 seconds. Apparently that is one thing that is not like riding a bike, you do forget it, LOL
Hope you can get what you need, and get recovered!

Hula hooping is going to take some time, not as easy as riding a bike for sure lol I had the same issues with jumping rope!
