Two Wheels

I am linking up today with my friends, Holly @ hohoruns and Tricia@ MissSippiPiddlin you know, those marathon running gals!
Share something from your week! ㋡ Check out the etiquette here

Monday I felt off. I thought it was lack of running of course, but I think I was actually coming down with a stomach bug.

I went to bed at 7:45...I had chills, just so sick.

Nottaaaa thing.  I actually had a combo of fudge and dark chocolate as a meal...it is all that seemed appealing.
¯\_()_/¯
It took me all week to get myself together.

MondayCycling 8.50 mi (37:00)
 20 min. stretching/core
Tuesday Rest!
WednesdayRest!
ThursdayCycling 13.60 mi (1:00:00) 15 min. stretching
FridayCycling 5 mi (22:00)
75 min. upper body weight training
SaturdayCycling outside 20.14 mi (1:47:49)
Sunday Cycling 6.40 (26:41)
60 min. leg work

53.6 miles of cycling this week. It is all about two wheels right now...

I went and cycled at the gym on a hilly course, but didn't feel like touching a weight. I wasn't all the way recovered yet.

I had a massage scheduled, so I left work early. I almost canceled because I felt like, why bother when I am not running, but I am glad I went. It is so relaxing. I really wanted to ball up on the table and sleep when I was done. However, I went and lifted for the first time all week. Kenny and I worked out, and ate dinner by 4:57 lol and I didn't have a diet soda all day :)

Saturday was very breezy, but sunny in the 50's.
I rode until sunset. It felt great to get outside! So much easier than the gym.
I am trying to get back on track and reign my diet in. I have gained some holiday/pure laziness pounds, that I need to to get off. I actually tried to eat some nutrients after my ride...black bean burger, colby jack cheese, tortellini, on a bed of spinach and another diet soda free day :)

Sunday...winter is back!
I was bummed I missed the Frostbite 15K today. I have been looking forward to this since I missed it last year. It is just not meant to be, but I had another soda free day!
I let Otto out to feel the snowflakes, he wasn't a fan.

I thought the kitties had the right idea, but I went to the gym anyway.

I can work my legs, but I can not do any calf raises. :(
It has been nine days since I ran, and my foot is about the same. I don't feel like much healing has happened, which is really concerning me. I have been trying to come to terms with being out for the long haul. I see the Doc on Wednesday and of course, I am hoping some kind of accelerated healing kicks in soon!

When I am sick I seem to really crave sugar. Anyone else like this
Tell me something about your week!
Thanks for stopping by!
I hope you have a wonderful week :)

  1. I had your Polar watch ready to mail Friday and didn't get to the PO. Shame on me! You can always Pool Run if you need to! (Yes you can and you will if necessary!) That is a lot of cycling miles for being sick for a few days. A chocolate supper sounds heavenly. I tried a black bean burger at Disney. It was very yummy! Let me know what the doc says this week. Let's hope it is great news. Thanks for linking with us Karen!

    1. No worries on the watch, I really won't be pool running this time. I just don't want to drive that far for where the medical membership is offered. I enjoyed the recap :)

    1. Thanks, I have to take advantage of good weather when we get it :) I don't think it will happen this week.

  3. I would love to get on my bike outside! But how nice that you got it done, being sick! And I think chocolate cures all. Just my opinion...

I hope your foot feels better!

    1. Thanks, meee too :) This is really messing with my fun.
It will about freezing here all week so I don't know if I will try outside biking again or not. I can not imagine being on the bike that long inside lol

  4. Do you see the doctor this week? Hoping you get some answers soon, Karen. I know it's incredibly frustrating. Hang in there, girl.

    1. Yes, Wednesday!! I am trying to relax lol I suck at it. I just wish I felt a lot better after all this rest...
      Thanks for the encouragement :)

  5. That's a lot of bike riding! I know it's hard to be patient when you want to be healed asap, but I think slow and steady wins the injury race! I hope your doc has good things to tell you this week.

    1. Thank you Jennifer :) I really want to know what the Doc thinks is going on. You are so right, I am going to hang in there and wait until I feel better, even though it isn't fun.

  6. Ugh on being sick, but way to go on the soda-free days! I hope you figure out your foot soon.

    1. Ewwww, that bug was rough.
I can hardly believe I made it another diet soda free day :) The poor Doc, I will try to not bombard him Wednesday :)

  7. OTTO! NOOO don't go outside in the snow! I can't believe he even tried it. Cecil would be like "wtf is this and please carry me back inside, put me on the bed and put a blanket over me!"

I hope you are feeling better soon xoxo!

I don't crave chocolates when I'm sick, but I crave hot tea nonstop. I usually drink so much of it when I'm sick that I can't even stand the sight of it for a month or so!

    1. Tea would be good for me lol I seem to crave all things bad when I don't feel well...and on a normal day, I don't even have cravings lol
I am so ready to feel good again. I keep trying to believe it will happen.
Otto was funny. He is so old, I don't have to worry about him taking off. 16 years old...

  9. ugh sorry your foot isn't feeling any better, but you are being very good and not running on it. I hope the doctor has good news for you with it. The kitties look so snuggly on the chair! Cycling is all good and everything, but it just isn't running, is it? Not the same for the high, at least never was for me. Glad you are feeling better.

    1. Biking feels like a good work out but, no it really doesn't give me the same high. I have a hard time inside getting much past an hour - maybe I slowly creep that time up. I am anxious to see the Doc now, this crazy foot will feel better eventually!

  10. So many runners are injured right now, but at least you are getting in some cycling if you can't run. My dog has been doing exactly the same thing as your kitties, lots of snuggle time. I'm missing running right now too since I injured my IT band during the WDW Marathon last week.

    1. I will have to read your race recap. I hope you got to finish the event. I just hate not being able to manage the aches without taking myself out for extended amounts of time. Maybe one of these days I will figure out the magic formula :)

  11. I am glad you have cycling and lifting for when you can't run! I am sorry you were sick. :( It's the worst. After I recover from a stomach bug, the only thing that sounds good to me is Wendy's or an Italian sub haha! Hey the real feel is 0 today so I think I may actually go to the GYM to run. I haven't been there since July!

    1. It is cold and windy here - the wind is killer! Good call to take it to the gym today :)
I am thankful my lifting is going pretty well or you would have to straight jacket me lol
Isn't funny how certain things are appealing after you have been sick lol

  12. I am really hoping the doc has good news for you! You deserve it.

Stomach bugs seem to be going around; they're the WORST. I am hoping to avoid it.

It depends how sick I am what I crave. For instance, if I have a fever I lose my appetite totally and have to remind myself to eat -- so not me! I usually try to eat really, really clean when I'm sick -- sugar is really the worst thing for our immune systems.

    1. I think I pick up a lot of bugs working in a school office lol
I wish I could say I lose my appetite but it is rare.
I know that sugar is bad! I wish it wasn't so appealing to me.

  13. Bah! Sorry you were sick. And that your foot still is not feeling great. I know Holly told you to pool run so I won't go there...but it's a good option. I think it's all about comfort food when we're a little down and sugar is definitely that for me too. xoxo

    1. I wish broccoli could be my comfort food lol but it isn't.
I do think the pool really helped me last year! I just don't want to go through it all again. It kept me out late, workouts without my hubby, I had to put on a swim suit... I am just not feeling that motivated to turn everything upside down. Maybe I will feel different after I see the Doc, we'll see :)

  14. I hate to read you were sick. I does take a lot out of you to recoup and get back at it. Wouldn't it be great if after your massage you could just go in another room and nap? I'd love that! Seems like the least active I am the more cravings I have. With all this training, you would think I'd have my eating in check but just the opposite, I have a few lbs to shed. I would tell myself marathon training and weightloss don't mix. I don't have an excuse now.

    1. ha! They should let you nap after the massage lol I have not felt that relaxed since my last one.
I am exactly that way, the less active the worse I eat.
I do think it is pretty common to gain weight marathon training, you just have to energy to bust out the long runs. I don't have an excuse either, I just hate being really disciplined lol

  16. Man, this season has EVERYONE sick. It's horrible.
Yep - All I did was eat leftover Christmas candy while I was sick - & that was basically it.
Glad you got the massage. You can ALWAYS use a massage!

  21. I hope your doc has some ideas for your foot tomorrow! Keep resting, especially if it's not feeling better! Or rather, keep cycling! Dang, look at all those miles! Nice work!

    Your kitties are TOO cute.

When I am sick, all I want is soup. I know I am feeling better when the sugar cravings come back, ha!

LoL, sugar... it is a shame it has taste so good!
I don't think I will get any outside time in this week, it will my hurt my miles, but I keep trying to pick some hilly course on the cycle at the gym :-)
