Irritable
Since I am Oscar the Grouch I feel like an expert.

Oh my...
As a runner there are  a few things that can make me feel so irritable when I'm on the move.
Tough weather conditions...enough said, I always start off optimistic but sometimes it is hard to overcome extreme heat, or heavy rain, etc...
Technology fails are irritating.
My biggest irritant is vehicles and distracted drivers since I have to run on roads here. That is one reason I value my morning runs, it is quieter!

Running and life....

I am tired of my feet aching. I am aware it is my own fault. I know I am trying to do more than I should on damaged feet, but whatever!! I want to do it.
I am trying to make a dream happen here...why's everything gotta be so hard.

I can't get enough sleep! I go to bed early yet I still feel tired. The alarm clock is making me really irritable!!
Then I am irritable because I oversleep and have to rush...I am ridiculous!

I was already struggling to keep up working full time, taking of my kitties, having healthy food and clean clothes, and a moderately messy house and a smile on my face...before I started trying to train.
Now moderately messy is...well, it is messy. It makes me irritable!

The running isn't the problem! The running makes me happy. In the big picture I spend about 9 hours a day doing what I "have to do"  I feel like trying to sneak a few hours to work on my dream shouldn't be THAT hard. It is so irritating.

I get irritated that everything I WANT to do feels like a chore, because I have too many things I "have to do."
Rant over...
Gosh, anyone still want to talk with me now? LOL

On days when  I feel most irritable, I try to find something to make me laugh...
and when I can't, I just drink wine¯\_()_/¯

Happy Hump Day!
Karen

  1. I still want to talk to you! :) The fatigue is real and quite irritating. I'm so envious of people who sleep well. I can't even relate. My house is an embarrassment at this point. LOL. You ARE going to make that dream happen!

  2. So true! I feel like I can't keep my house as clean as I want but I enjoy the training and don't want to think of it as a problem. You're right that it makes things I want to do feel like a chore :(

  4. I feel you on the sleep thing!! I usually sleep SO well but I just haven't been lately. Not only does not sleeping well irritate me, but it makes me irritable! And then everyone around me suffers, too :(

  7. I always feel like I have a ton of stuff I have to do, but never enough time for the stuff I want to do. When all else fails, drink wine:)

  8. Preach it, girl! I hear you on the feet thing, although mine aren't as bad as yours. Even so, it's hard not to get irritated when the heart and brain want to do something so badly, but another body part rebels.

    Thanks for linking up!

    1. It is hard because my legs feel pretty darn good! I think I am goign to take next week off until my long run and just give them a good recovery period...they are rebelling but I don't want them to take me out.

  9. I can relate to all of this! After an epic fun weekend, it was back to reality and now I'm cranky again. I realize I need to throw my energies behind my work, but it just sucks the fun right out of me!

  10. I totally identify with everything you've said and I am not even training for a full marathon.

I don't know how you get up early and run all those miles.

I run 3 after work and I am tired the next day.

I understand the feet thing. My ankle hurt during my last half but I ignored it because I wanted to finish that race. I refused to give up. And I'm glad I didn't

You will complete your marathon. Then you can relax (unless of course you decide to run another.)

I am glad you didn't give up- you were rewarded with a great PR!
I do want to do a few halfs though :) Even if i can't run them like i used to!

  11. I call those irritable days my days where I just shouldn't be around people! I am ready for my husband to be home (he is traveling on business) and catching up over a bottle of wine.
This will all be worth it when you cross that finish line! You are doing amazing things!
